My Live Project

Welcome to My Live Project.

This project is an insight into my new found sector of radio and critically explores the experiences which young creatives gained through community media.  Coming up to a year of joining Platform B, I thought I would cover the importance of funding smaller communities within the creative industries and recognising how invaluable this experience can be to your future career.

Let's start right at the beginning...

Research and Ethics

Where can this project go...

Starting this project was the hardest part. I had so many ideas regarding Platform B, and demonstrating the impact they have on young creatives. One of my ideas was to create a mini-series called 'My Story @ Platform B', where the producers/DJs could share their individual story to help others with how they got involved and where they are now. However, with covid-19 a lot of the participants were unable to commit to the project and therefore limited my primary research. As more interviews declined I decided to change my idea, and reflect on the interviews I had managed to do and apply theory to them.

With my idea, it was important that the participants knew that not only would we be discussing their opinion of Platform B, but also that I will be using the data as part of my online portfolio so their interview was recorded. Within my actual Live Project I decided to keep the participants identity un-disclosed as I felt it gave a wider-perspective of the overall research. However, Radio Producer Eva allowed me to share snippets of our interview with my online portfolio. Scroll down to see more...

If I had more time on this project, I would have definitely wanted to expand my primary research to other community radio stations around the UK. As well as speaking to industry professionals in the radio sector, and un-cover different topics of the fascinating medium that is radio. I would have also liked to create social media content for Platform B from the interviews that took place. The main priority would be to expand my mini-series of 'My Story @ Platform B'.
