Personal Summary

Hello there,

My name is Angharad Evans. I am 23 years old and a recent (BA) Media, Industry and Innovation graduate from The University of Brighton. The course was built up of topics such as social media activism, media product management, sustainability and innovation and our live project. Alongside this course, we were also able to gain industry experience with a 4 week placement. Over the past couple of years, I have learnt a considerable number of skills to be able to adapt to any given media environment, as well as, networking in and around the media city of Brighton.

My intuition and creative drive to make active changes in society, specifically for my generation has increased over the course of this degree, creating good connections and ambitions to drive my media career forward. My real passion lies within the radio sector, with the dream being able to create important conversations and music playlists nationwide. With this degree, I have learnt to work both independently and as a group, with many of my ideas being used across a range of different modules.

I look forward to entering the creative sector, with a whole range of creative ideas and be able to adapt the knowledge I have learnt from this degree in due course.

Platform B - Radio Producer and Presenter

I have worked closely with Platform B since summer of 2020 as part of their volunteering programme. In order to gain experience in the music sector, also to involve myself in the Brighton Music Networks. I help with Radio Production on a weekly basis, as well as present my own show 'Savvy Selections' every other Thursday 7-8pm.

May 2021 -  June 2021

Digital Accelerator Course

As part of my development of skills to use post-university, I decided to take part in a course that specialises in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign. In order to create my own website and expand my knowledge in these specific applications. The course ran over 3 weeks, and by the end we had to create a presentation based on our portfolio of work to someone from the industry sector.

Jan 2020 -  Feb 2020

Brighton Festival Placement

As part of our course at Media Industry, and Innovation (MII) we were given the opportunity to work on a 6 week placement in a sector of our choice within the media industry. I worked with the marketing team, helping to create content ready for the 2020 Brighton Festival. Due to covid-19 this event didn't go ahead. However, I gained a wide range of skills by interviewing people within the city as well as diving into their archive ready for press-releases.

May 2018 - July 2019

Cancer Research - Stock Processor

During my studies at University I worked at Cancer Research Superstore as a stock processor, this role included going through donations stock, presenting the shop floor, working with volunteers, Gift Aiding items and helping with social media posts. This has been one of the most rewarding role I have done so far, and pushed my interests towards charity sector as well learning people skills through offering added support and guidance for people in and around Cancer Research.

Interests

Since joining The University of Brighton a lot of my end goals and passions for different subjects has changed. My passion for radio has grown and I have been able to develop my skills in production over the course of a year. I really enjoy presenting, curating playlists and being a part of a wider community of like-minded individuals.

I love the concept of human communication, story-telling and any live aspect of radio or the music scene. Specifically getting to know up-coming artists within certain areas of UK by presenting their music through my mini-series City Scopes on Platform B.

Outside of my studies I am a singer-songwriter as part of a musical duo, where I do live performances from festivals, to open-mics, to opening ceremonies.

The dream is to one-day be able to combine the two by presenting my own music show on national radio, and also touring with my duo around Europe just us two and a little van.
